Vehicle extrication

Vehicle extrication is the process of removing a vehicle from around a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle collision, when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable

Fire/Injury prevention/Public education

Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage. This horrific conflagration killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.

Basic Life Support

Basic life support is a level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. It can be provided by trained medical personnel, such as emergency medical technicians

Technical/Specialized rescue

Technical rescues typically include confined space rescue, high angle rescue, low angle rescue, swift water rescue, urban search and rescue operations and trench rescues. To be proficient performing technical rescue operations requires specialized training, specialized equipment and specialized personnel

Responders at the operational level are those persons who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials or CBRNE as part of the initial response to the incident for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, the environment, and/or property from the effects of the release
